Atlante and the Greek Yogurt Market: Growth, Innovation, and New Launches for 2025

3 April 2025
For over a decade, Atlante has been a leader in offering high-quality Greek specialties, consistently standing out in the market with its authentic, traditional, and premium product range.
The crown jewel of Atlante’s assortment is Greek yogurt—a standout product that brought the company major success in 2024.
The year 2024 closed with strong growth: sales of Atlante’s Greek yogurt rose by 20%, both in value and volume. This performance mirrors the broader market trend, which continues to show double-digit growth and increasing consumer appreciation for this category. According to Nielsen data (AT 29/12/2024), the Greek yogurt segment surpassed €460 million in value, accounting for 26% of total yogurt sales—a share that continues to rise.
2024 was a dynamic year for the entire category, marked by innovation and change. Product development followed two main directions: on one hand, a rise in indulgent offerings—yogurts with creamy textures and intense flavors that delight the palate; on the other, a growing interest in functional solutions, with kefir gaining particular attention. Across all segments, taste remained the key purchase driver, appealing to both health-conscious consumers and those seeking pure pleasure.
In this ever-evolving landscape, Greek yogurt stood out as the perfect answer to the demand for tasty, authentic, and wholesome products. Looking ahead to 2025, the challenge will be to continue innovating without compromising on quality—offering an increasingly diverse range tailored to the refined and ever-changing preferences of Italian consumers.
Innovation in the yogurt market has particularly favored dessert-inspired products, featuring gourmet flavors and indulgent combinations. The high-protein segment continues to gain ground, while Greek yogurt is claiming more shelf space—thanks in part to the popularity of plain varieties (both low-fat and full-fat) and the constant introduction of new flavors.
Large-size formats (450g–1kg) have been especially popular, with sales up 24% in value and 32% in volume. Lactose-free options also performed exceptionally well, with value sales up 44% and volume up 51%.
In 2025, Atlante is set to take the spotlight with a wave of exciting new launches. The R&D team has worked intensively to develop innovative and surprising new products, all while staying true to Greek tradition.
“When tradition meets innovation, great things happen,” says Michela Mastropasqua, Category Manager. “Greek yogurt continues to be a flagship of Atlante’s food division, transforming cultural heritage into modern excellence.”
Among the key innovations is the New Indulgent Yogurt Range, designed to deliver taste and wellness without guilt. Made with a creamy 5% fat base, these yogurts strike the perfect balance between indulgence and nutrition, with flavors inspired by iconic desserts:
- Sacher Torte – rich chocolate with notes of apricot
- Coco Choco – a delicious blend of coconut freshness and chocolate decadence
- Salted Caramel – a sophisticated flavor balancing sweetness and saltiness
To broaden its appeal even further, Atlante is also launching a Lactose-Free Yogurt Line in two classic, much-loved flavors: Strawberry and Vanilla, joining the already popular natural plain variant.
Another major addition for 2025 is the Greek Mousse—a brand-new concept that combines lightness and creaminess in a soft, airy texture. Versatile and original, it’s perfect for breakfast, a snack, or dessert.
Lastly, the Standard Line is expanding with a timeless favorite: Stracciatella. The result of extensive work by the R&D team, this Greek yogurt captures all the traditional flavor of one of Italy’s most beloved varieties, enriched with real pieces of Rainforest Alliance-certified chocolate.
With these innovations, Atlante once again proves its keen understanding of market trends and its readiness to meet the evolving needs of today’s increasingly diverse and discerning consumers. 2025 is shaping up to be a year full of exciting opportunities and new milestones in the world of yogurt.
